A pair of Utah-based companies specializing in 3D printing technologies have merged.

WhiteClouds, an Ogden-based full-color 3D printing company, has acquired Bluffdale-based 3DplusMe, which creates interactive 3D experiences and 3D products. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Established in 2013, WhiteClouds enables companies to use 3D printing to change the way they deliver product, innovate and create solutions. The company has built a platform to efficiently manufacture high-quality, full-color 3-D models and products across the architecture, medical and entertainment industries. Its 3D-as-a-service (3DaaS) platform enables brands and channels to create 3-D experiences and turn them into full-color 3D printed products. It said the acquisition adds 3DplusMe’s leading brand partners and retail distribution channels to its portfolio.

3DplusMe provides four 3D “capture-to-print” experiences through its technology, which includes a platform for 3D face scanning for 3D printed personalized merchandise with major brands. That allows brands to create customized and personalized experiences for their top characters, toys, action figures, sports heroes, video game or movie characters, and more. Among its brand partners are Marvel, Hasbro, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, Assassin’s Creed, DreamWorks and Halo.
